Today I was travelling in the north of England and discovered this beautiful place in Liverpool.
The Isla Gladstone is a major part of Liverpool's heritage and adds to the extensive collection of breath-taking buildings the city has to offer.
Originally built in 1870 as part of Edward Kemp's vision for Stanley Park to create an inner-city, versatile park space for the people of Liverpool, the beautiful glass structure became an iconic part of the impressive north Liverpool park. Less than a century later, the city and population had flourished, consuming the park and sadly leading to its neglect and ruin, the conservatory joining its demise. Despite several attempts to revive the rusty iron and broken glass remains of the conservatory, overrun by weeds, litter and graffiti, it wasn't until 2007 that the vision for the Isla Gladstone Conservatory truly came to life. The conservatory is named after the granddaughter-in-law of the Victorian Prime Minister William Gladstone. Isla married into the Gladstone family in the 1920s and after raising a family, began a career as a designer of fabrics and wallpaper. She studied in Liverpool and the conservatory is a monument not only to her, but to all the women of Liverpool. In the footsteps of Enid Blyton in Dorset 📖✨
Dorset was a great source of inspiration for Enid Blyton, who spent many summers in the region. The dramatic coastline, mysterious castles and idyllic coves are reflected in her adventure stories. Durlston Country Park - With its cliffs, caves and stunning coastline, Durlston is reminiscent of the wild settings of her adventures. Perfect for a discovery tour! Whether as a child with the "Five Friends" or as a traveller today - Dorset is full of adventure! 🌊📚✨ Let me guide you! #EnidBlyton #Dorset #Swanage #Durlston #FamousFive #onDiscoveryTour #uk #england #tourguide #ourguide #entdeckedorset #ilovedorset

Yesterday I visited Saltram House in Plymouth - an impressive manor house surrounded by a beautiful landscaped park. This magnificent 18th century estate, once the residence of the wealthy Parker family, is now owned by the National Trust and offers a fascinating insight into the life of the English aristocracy.
As soon as you enter the house, you feel transported back in time. The magnificent rooms are rich in ornate stucco ceilings, elegant furniture and an impressive art collection, including works by Joshua Reynolds. Particularly worth seeing are the large dining room with its opulent décor and the library, which invites you to dream with its high bookshelves.
But it's not just the interior of Saltram House that is worth a visit - the extensive gardens and parkland are just as enchanting. You can walk along the River Plym, stroll through the romantic garden or simply enjoy the tranquillity of the old trees.
A special highlight for visitors is the free guided tour, which provides exciting insights into the history of the house and its former residents. The stories about lavish parties, royal visits and daily life in such a manor house make the visit even more lively.

Today I visited the charming town of Sherborne in North Dorset - a real gem with a rich history, impressive architecture and a welcoming atmosphere. From the first walk through the cobbled streets, you can feel the unique character of this place: historic houses made of golden hamstone, small independent shops and cosy cafés that invite you to linger.
The centrepiece of Sherborne is undoubtedly Sherborne Abbey, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with stunning fan-vaulted ceilings and ornate stained glass windows. What is particularly impressive is that you can take part in a free guided tour, during which you will gain fascinating insights into the long history of the abbey - from its foundation as a Saxon monastery to its current role as a vibrant parish church.
In addition to the Abbey, there are two impressive castles: the medieval Old Sherborne Castle, which once belonged to Sir Walter Raleigh, and the magnificent Sherborne Castle, which was built by him in the 16th century. The extensive gardens offer marvellous walks with views of the picturesque lake.
Sherborne is a place where history comes alive and you immediately feel welcome - perfect for a relaxing day trip or even a longer stay. Once you've been here, you'll definitely want to come back! 2024 what a year 🤩 I moved back to England in February. In March, I started my first tour as a tour guide, and many more followed.
My first cruise in April, followed by more tours through England, Scotland and Ireland.
Then in September, another highlight: a tour of the National Parks in America, a helicopter flight through the Grand Canyon, a hike through Bryce Canyon and a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer.
In October a river trip in Portugal and in November the start of my city guide training in Plymouth.
In December, my book was finished and another cruise 🚢 Not bad 2024 not bad 🥰 #reflection 1TP5One year #2024 #our guide #travel #ravel #our 1TP5Holiday 1TP5Year in review 1TP5Experiences 1TP5Adventures 1TP5Discover new things
