A small sign of life - and a big sip from the adventure cup
Hello lovelies,
I thought I'd get back to you personally with a little update!
The season is officially over for this year - the suitcases are stowed away (for now), the bus is parked dutifully in the corner and the rain jacket is allowed to retire for a while. Short! Because you know me: boredom is not my natural state of being.
So what am I going to do during the "quiet" time? Well ... I've decided to spend the next few years doing something Lightweight to sweeten the deal: a PhD. I'm now actually studying Creative Writing at the University of Lancaster. The subject? Travel writing, of course! Who would have expected anything else? If I'm not travelling all the time, at least I'm thinking about it.
In addition, my first book is still going really well in Germany - many thanks to everyone who has supported it, talked about it or even given it away!
For all those who prefer to read in English or would like to give a gift to someone abroad: The book is now also available in English under the title "A Different Shade of Green".
I spent a lot of time in Scotland this August - and let me tell you: I am in love. Deeply and deeply. The mixture of history, wildness, bagpipes, unshakeable serenity and dramatic weather is simply unbeatable. That's why I'm currently working on a new book about Scotland - full of stories, encounters, cultural surprises and, of course, the odd anecdote about rain, which always sets in just when you're shouting "Just quickly without a jacket!".
So it remains exciting - just in a different way. I look forward to continuing to take you with me on this journey - between the Highlands, manuscripts and my very personal adventure, which is probably called a "doctoral thesis".

I was also able to enjoy something very special in September:
My book and my story have found their way into the Tina and the Mine found! The response was overwhelming - and I know that some of you found me through these articles.
So a very warm welcome to all new followers!
I'm glad you're here - make yourselves comfortable, mentally brew a warm tea or a Scotch whisky (depending on the time of day and strength of character) and come with me on this journey. This is about real life "between the countries": lots of nature, lots of culture, lots of British idiosyncrasies - and always with a twinkle in my eye.

What happens next?
And because it's notoriously difficult for me to sit still, I'm currently travelling in Wales - officially for a writing workshop, but unofficially also on a bit of a "search for clues". I'm looking at a few places that might be suitable for new tours one day. Let's put it this way: the planning is still in its infancy, but it already has very curious blinking eyes and a slight tendency to start running.
Wales never ceases to amaze me: rugged, poetic, green in at least 57 shades and with this wonderfully decelerated atmosphere in which you almost automatically write more, breathe more deeply and sooner or later encounter a dragon - whether real or metaphorical, I'll leave that up to you.
And before you think I'm going to spend the winter behind my desk - don't worry, it's still going to be a great winter. "on brand": A passion for travelling in continuous operation.
At the beginning of December, I treat myself to a bit of sunshine on Fuerteventura - to take a deep breath, recharge your batteries and maybe even enjoy a writing moment or two with sand between your toes. Then over Christmas we'll be travelling to Venicewhere I have the good fortune to be accompanying an English tour group. Christmas between gondolas, twinkling lights and espresso - I think it's going to be pretty magical.
In the January I will then fulfil a long-cherished dream: a cruise to Norwayin the hopeful mission to finally live to see the northern lights. Keep your fingers crossed that they don't play coy!
And then at the end of January - after all this world - it's time to return to the Homebefore the next chapter begins. I can't tell you any more at the moment, but stay tuned... It remains exciting.
Take care of yourselves - and if you're looking for me, I'm probably somewhere between a desk, bagpipes and dragons 🙂
Your Britta
